Yesterday Susie, Tom and Tyler visited Dalmeny Primary and spoke to the nursery about archaeology for their topic on jobs people do! It was our first visit to a group as young as this so we’re really happy it went so well. Ms Forbes, their teacher even gave us some helpful tips to utilise on visits involving younger children! Here’s some feedback we got from their teacher Ms Forbes:
“It was really interesting to find out more about archaeology and it gives the children the beginnings of a concept about using artefacts to find out about the past as well as finding out more about what sort of jobs adults have. They loved the activity in the sand and after the visit we hid some mosaic pieces in the outdoor sand pit which they then dug up and brushed as demonstrated earlier by our visiting archaeologists. This did tie in nicely with the visit yesterday from our community police officer and we did talk about how both jobs involve looking for clues!”.
