We are a friendly and encouraging group, aiming to expand its volunteer’s skills in leadership and organisation. Providing experience in promotion of heritage is becoming more and more essential to modern archaeological practice. EAOP is a fantastic way to get to know your fellow students and network with those further on in their university careers, while providing an introduction into public archaeology.
The hard work and dedication of our volunteers have been integral to making EAOP what it is today. Since EAOP’s inception, we have grown into a collective of dedicated students, researchers and field archaeologists, all of varying levels of their academic careers and studies, that have visited over 600 children in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas teaching them about a subject they’re so passionately involved in.
Ranging in age from 18 years old to 48 years old, with everyone from 1st year undergraduate through to PhD. We are a diverse group from all corners of the world and all interest areas of archaeology.
We hope that EAOP, thanks to those who volunteer, will continue to inspire the young archaeologists of tomorrow, and become an integral part of archaeology student’s time at Edinburgh.
